Fall To-Do List Update

by Brittany

Its been several weeks since my last post and sharing a few fall activities that we hoped to do this fall. Since that post I have actually have done 2 things..woohoo! First, I successfully taught myself (with the help of a $2 instruction booklet from Walmart) how to crochet. It was pretty intimidating when I opened the book. I had no idea there were many different crochet techniques or patterns. So far I can only do one pattern, and not that great either. I haven't actually made anything yet but plan to work at it more. The hard part is making myself sit still long enough, and be patient enough, to get it done!

What was significantly more success was my family pumpkin carving contest. My oldest son's birthday is in October so I thought in conjunction with that I would have my Dad's family over and we would have a friend competition. It was a lot of fun and it surprised me how creative we all were!

I had little prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place which really motivated everyone to pull out all the stops. Im really glad we got to do this and it might be an annual thing from now on.

Fall To-Do List

by Brittany

Our entire group feels that fall is absolutely the best season of the year. We can each appreciate all the things that represent fall; cooler temperatures, changing colors of the leaves, comfort food, football, holidays, etc. Each year I personally look forward to this season because it makes me feel energized and excited about spending more time with my extended family. More than anything though, I wanted to create a fall to-do list because it seems like every year I plan on doing activities that I cant or wouldn't do any other time during the year, but the season comes and goes without me doing a single thing I wish I had done. I asked my JUGs girls to come up with lists as well. Now this list isn't something we have to stick to but simply a reminder of fun things we can do.

Brittany's List:
  1. Make my first pumpkin pie from scratch
  2. Have "fall" family pictures taken
  3. Have a pumpkin carving contest with my family
  4. Make candied apples
  5. Rake leaves and let my kiddos play in them
  6. Learn how to crochet
  7. Decorate Halloween cookies
  8. Take my own fall-inspired photographs
  9. Go hiking
  10. Master a new soup recipe

Annette's List:
  1. Finish renovating the guest bedroom
  2. Make 2 t-shirt quilts
  3. Make Halloween goodies for my grandsons
  4. Attempt to make a couple of my pullover sweaters into cardigans. (seen on Pinterest of course!)

Each time we do something on our list I hope to make a post w/pictures on here. It will be a wonderful little momento to share and hopefully it will inspire you to make your own list!
